In early pregnancy should your cervix be lowered like it is before you start your period?

I just found out recently that I'm pregnant. It took me by shock that I was pregnant because with all the symptoms I'm feeling I just thought I was going to start my period. One reason as to being this is my cervix is very low. Is this normal in early pregnancy?
