Extrauterine fibroids?

I recently had an appendectomy laproscopically. During my surgery, an ovarian cyst was found which according to the surgeon looked normal. Also, two very tiny fibroids were seen on my uterus, along the outside surface. I have never heard of fibroids outside of the endometrium. Is this normal?
