spotting after paps mear instead of period

about a week ago I had my paps mear done (1 week b4 my usual period).. instead of having my period I had spotting for about 3 days. is this a sign of pregnancy or a usual effect of the paps mear, with possibility of using a new birth control pill for about 5 months
