Cracked skin on perineum

My girlfriend has diabetes and suffers from really thin skin on her perineum (skin between vagina and rectum) , It also gets to the point of cracking and goes really red, I was just wondering if anyone suffers from the same thing or has and if so what can she do to prevent this? Thanks
