Knee Pain after a 50mile ride?

Last week I did a 50 mile ride. About the last 15 miles or so I had excrutiating pain in my left knee while pedaling. I iced it when I got home and it didn't bother me anymore. I've gone out a few times since then, but no long rides; I had no pain. Today, about 8 miles in it starts up again....

Swapping cantilever brakes

On my new cross bike, I've got a set of Radius cantilever brakes, and I want to switch them to Deore LX or XTR V-brakes. Someone mentioned that the braze-ons (sp?) on the fork and the rear triangle might not match up with V-brakes, but I find this a bit hard to believe. Anyone know for sure?
