Thoracic/Lumbar fusion; Did it relieve your pain?

I'm just curious if anyone here has had good luck with fusion relieving your pain. My sergeon has determined that I need from T6 to L2 o.O fused. Of course, pain is the issue, and my sergeon can't promise ANY relief. So it seems like a terrible idea going forward with this. But I here it does...
