Hi there - my son (32) had anterior discectomy (straightforward, no fusion) this week. The operation was a success and the arm pain seems to have gone. He was discharged from hospital after 48 hours, follow-up in a month. The only worry is that he has practically lost his voice and can only speak in a hoarse whisper. The surgeon said that this is likely to be temporary and it will more than likely resolve on its own, but this could take some time. I would be glad to hear from anyone who has suffered a similar problem and learn of their recovery experiences. Many thanks.
