Sticky thyroid, my husband had it removed.

My husband recently had his thyroid removed. The surgeon said that part of the thyroid was definitely cancer and the other part was sticky. What did he mean by sticky? I am unable to find a reference for the term. Perhaps that was just his own terminology.
