stopped birth control almost 7 mths ago, still not pregnant. Is something wrong?

I was on the birth control seasonique for about 2 years and recently decided to try and have a baby.  I stopped taking it and have been off for about 7 months now.  Before my periods were very light and only about 3 days long...now they are so heavy I have to change super tampons atleast...
