alcohol in the house while withdrawing from alcohol

Like to know whether to get the liquor out of the house when my husband is going to go cold turkey at home, he says it wouldn't bother him. Does he have to see it there in the cupboard while he isn't using ? I think it would be too hard on him, please advise.
