how well would plan B/the morning after pill work when your period is meant to due next week?

So i have unprotected sex with my bf and took the morning after pill the next day.. ive searched on google and apparently it is not as effective if you take it 2 weekks after your last period... and i am now almost 3 weeks after my last period and my period... apparently what plan b does is to stop...
