Arm pulsating after sitting at the work desk.

I was sitting at my desk at work and all of a sudden my right arm started to pulsate. It felt like my veins were about to explode. It stopped shortly after I moved my arms around. What was the cause of that and do I need to go see my doctor?

What can you tell me about essential thrombocythemia? My wife has been diagnosed with essential thrombocythemia. We are nit sure how they will treat her. She has another appointment tomorrow. It seems that it is rare condition and they are not prepared for it. Should I ask or second opinion?
