Pin removal after Hammertoe Surgery, is the pain really bad

i saw a YouTube video where a woman seemed to experience bad pain during her pin removal.  I will have had my pin in second toe of right foot for over six weeks. I am not sure local anesthesia will be used at all.  Is the pain really bad during  the pin removal?
