Why is there no way to know if you're pregnant before you're missed period?

I know I have to wait until my missed period, and something in me tells me I am pregnant, but why is there no way to know until you miss your period? We know that the egg implants about a week before you miss so why haven't we come up with a way to tell sooner? Stronger tests or something?
