Estrogen hormones included in my prostate cancer therapy

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer a while back and have started a course of treatment that I am very much hoping will result in a cure. Now, one of the things I am receiving is hormone replacement therapy with estrogen. I thought these were just female hormones? Can anyone clear this up for me?
