confused about what to do about a 5cm tumor on my kidney

I was just told that I have a 5cm tumor on my right kidney.. I have been refered to a surgeon to possibly have it removed before it start to hemmoredge. I don't want to have my kidney removed..what can I do about the fear I have. Has anyone else been through this?
