lump on front of neck

Does anyone have a clue what a lump on the front of the neck could be? It is quite big, appeared suddenly and it itches like hell! To the point that it is preventing me sleeping at night. I will call a doctor I think, but if someone can tell me it's nothing, I would feel a lot better obviously....

hello i just noticed a lump in front of my ear on the bone, when i move the skin the lump moves to, it dosnt hurt, its like rock hard, im just worried thats all, can some one left me know as soon as possible thanks :) xxxxx
