50 year old female, period won't stop

I am a 50 year old female, have had 3 kids, my tubes were tied 14 years ago.  I have had a period for 3 months now.  It won't stop, it slows down, and then it clots for days and very heavy.  Is this normal for menopause, or should I be concerned?
