How do I know when I ovulate?

Loading...

To find out your luteal phase, and when you ovulate, you need to monitor your basal body temperature or cervical mucus, or get some ovulation strip test kits. you will need to monitor ovulation for a few cycles before you can predict ovulation in advance.

with most women its around 14 days before your period starts.
but this is a national average. it is not accurate for everyone. but do NOT ASSUME THIS IS TRUE FOR YOU! it is inaccurate to "guess" when you ovulate. it won't do you any favours. use a medical method of monitoring.

the same goes for websites that predict ovulation: they work by ASSUMING you have a luteal phase of 14 days. it is a GUESS. don't take it's word for fact!

especially if you want to use ovulation to prevent/help with pregnancy. don't take risks!!!

If your cycle is pretty regular, ovulation calculators such as would be pretty useful. Just enter your cycle length and the first day of your last period, and it will give you when your next ovulation date is.
