Tongue problem

I wear a retainer and sometime while sleeping i bite down the wrong way and I guess it causes my taste buds to swell. And yes... i do pick with it, and now it's white and sore. Will this go away or have I caused some type of infection. No puss comes out when i squeeze it.

Okay so i got my tongue pierced on Saturday at 3 pm it is now Wednesday morning. The swelling has gone down except in the area around the barbel. It's still so swollen the ball is sinking into my tongue. Is this normal? How long will it last??
