tooth pulled, won't clot

I just had a back molar pulled today, about 7 hours ago and it's still bleeding. The dentist said it should clot in an hour or two. I put pressure on it with gauze, but it still bleeds. Anyone know if this is ok or not? Or what I should do?

My husband has/had an infected eye tooth. A few days ago, the pain got intense and his lip and nose swelled up. He couldn't open his mouth to eat and the pain upon touch was severe. I told him to make an appointment with the dentist ASAP. Of course he didn't and when i persisted, he got real cranky....
