acdf healing process strange smells or tastes?

6 days post op acdf, i got the donor graft, titanium plates, i have dissolving stitches could that be the source of this metallic-ish taste/smell?

My anterior cervical fusion failed - I have had 2 cervical fusions in the last 2 years.  C5-C7 fused in June 2009, and in August 2010 it was found that the bottom disk was not fusing, so the surgeon replaced it.  Now the surgeon says that C5-C6, which looked great last December,...
