good and bad news regarding infectious disease specialist

HI, bad news is that I went to see doctor again, because medicine Amoxicillin was ineffective for my throat infection, and good , that he sent me to a specialist, so I hope to finally solve my infection. Could it be very serious, since I’m sent to a specialist?

i have a sore throat for months it wont go away at all. i have taken antibiotics, cold medicine, etc but nothing helps. i have been to doctor and he says there's nothing to worry about but it's still there and it's bugging me. it's not painful and there's no cough, but my throat is always scratchy...
