yellow smelly lumps(that looks like tiny eggs clustered together) coming from my throat...

I've been noticing for the pass year or so that whenever I have sore throat or just the flu and a spit mucus some yellow lumps comes out and when I squeeze it it has a terrible odour... What could it be and what causes it? I eagerly await a respond.
