Is surviving with one lung possible? My left lung is damaged and I'm an oxygen dependent patient

Is surviving with one lung possible? My left lung is damaged and I'm an oxygen dependent patient waiting for the medical aid to approve portable cylinders to take home. Is it possible to shut the left Lung and live on one and not depend on oxygen cylinders for the rest of my life?
