Causes of Iron Deficiency

I did some reading lately. I have found out that some conditions can cause iron deficiency. But they didn't say anything iron levels during pregnancy. My interest in this is caused by my anemia. I and my husband are planning to have a baby. Therefore I would like to learn more about that.
