hours late on taking pill, now bleeding

I usually take my pill within 20 minutes of the same time everyday. last week I was 4 hours late and today i just started bleeding. Ive been taking them like normal on time everyday but now i'm concerned. Does this mean my pill is not effective anymore? or is this normal?
