hard lump on fetlock

What can cause the soft tissue around the sternum to enlarge?

My doctor took a chest x-ray and said that the soft tissue -either behind or around (I can't remember) my sternum is enlarged. I will be getting an MRI - but I was wondering what could be the cause of this?
