Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases (COPD)

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) involves two lung diseases, chronic bronchitis and emphysema, that often coexist. Both diseases cause airflow obstructions and disrupt normal breathing. The quality of life of COPD sufferers decreases with time and quitting smoking is a must in order to improve the odds. I was hurt lifting 40 pounds of concrete from a hole in Dec. I had hernia surgery and my ribs were hurt. They have been hurt two more times since, had a MRI and they said nothing broken. Why is my ribs hurting so badly. My chiropractor said I have pleuricy. Is that possible and why

Is smoking associated with increased risk of Hamman-Rich syndrome?

Do any of the participants on this forum know about the causes of Hamman-Rich syndrome? Most lung conditions are worsened or even induced by smoking and being in a smoky environment, and I was hoping that someone could tell me if the risk for Hamman-Rich syndrome is increased by smoking?
