doctor said i have a squamous cell carcinoma and would require further surgical removal

they did a biopsy on my scalp. It was hurting for 2months. After the biopsy there was no more pain.thedoctor said it was a squamous cell carcinoma and would require further surgical removal. If I do not have any pain and it is flat why would I need surgery? Please help. I do know prayer works.
