Can early stages of rectal cancer be causing the pain in the rectum?

Hello, guys. My friend was diagnosed rectal cancer. His doctor said it was in early stage. However, my friend is feeling pain in the rectum. Is it possible for early stages of this cancer to have this symptom? I would really appreciate your symptoms. Thank you in advance. I appreciate it.

Recent chest X-ray and CT-scan show a 2.5 centimeter nodule in her right lung and innumerable small nodules in both lungs. Physically, she has not...
