my friend who is only 42 has it very close to his heart and they couldnot operate he is going thru kemo now and has always been very healthy an strong does he have a chance of getting thru this!

Yes he does. It depends upon where it has spread and the better his health the better the survival rate.
Chemo is just one of several options for treatment. Sometimes radiation is used as well. It depends where in the body it is though, how near the heart for example.
He needs support more than anything. Keep him active within reasonable limits. The attitude of the patient is very important as to recovery with any disease. This is no different.
