I am having surgery in 14 days and am trying to withdraw from subutex ( been on 3 yrs) without tapering b/c I'm afraid b/c of the agonist in subutex, the pain post op will be uncontrolled Thanks for you input! :-(

Methadone 10 mg tid is not helping my pain from fibromyalgia. My doctor wants to try me on fentanyl patch. I asked about withdrawal of methadone. She states only a change of medication is necessary. I feel very apprehensive about this. Can anyone tell me if this is the appropriate method?
