I have a history of paradontopathy running in my family. I have also been having some problems with my gums. They tend to bleed when you brush them or eat unpeeled apple. Painful spot on line on top lip but it's not a bump or sore

There is a painful spot on the lip line of my top lip when I touch it.  It's not a bump or a sore.  The painful spot is the color of my skin and is not raised.  It's just a painful spot on my skin that only hurts when I run my nail across it. Otherwise it's fine.  I am not sure what it could be.
