Cut on scrotum now healed has grown into hard lump.

I had a cyst removed from my scrotum and the cut healed as a hard lump. The lump is white in colour, easily visible, and has no fluid in it. WHAT IS IT? Could this be a way the body protects itself from these events reoccuring? How long do these things take to go away if they go away at all? HELP...
