negative urine test

I am prescribed hydrocodone 10mg 4 times a day by my dr. I am being told i am not taking it as directed because sometimes my urine is free of it in my system. that cant be, i take it daily so what would cause that? it is just a dip stick type test, not sent off to a lab or anything
