I was told that my son's asthma could lead to blebs and emphysema if not controlled is this true

The doctor told me if i didn't make my son use advair everyday his asthma could damage his lungs causing blebs and emphysema. I have researched this and I would like to know what someone else thinks about this. Thank you.
