The doctor told me if i didn't make my son use advair everyday his asthma could damage his lungs causing blebs and emphysema. I have researched this and I would like to know what someone else thinks about this. Thank you.

I have son with asthma. When he was about 14 years old, a doctor told him that he had the lungs of a 55 year old man....Ouch...Hi point was that my son would let himself get in a bad place with his breathing/asthma, before he would take his medication regularly. I do know that you can destroy your lung tissue like anything else. If your respiratory system is always under stress, it will break down over time. Emphysema is caused by the air sacs in your lungs loosing their elasticity from stress.....I would take his comments seriously....My son is now 23, he still doesn't take the asthma thing that seriously and I still worry. Good care will affect his future health.
