life expectancy for metastatic breast cancer

My colleague is 46 years old and she is diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. I won’t explain you how terrible I felt when I heard this news. She is one of the kindest persons I have ever met. I would like to know more about the life expectancy for the patients with this kind of diagnosis.
