Stage 1 Melanoma

A friend of mine was diagnosed melanoma in stage 1. He is 43 years old. As I know, skin cancers often affect fair hair and skin people. He is not of that kind. I’m interested in prognosis of that type of cancer in its first stage. He is generally in good shape. Can it be completely healed?
