Diagnosed with ear drum atresia, what is that?

Hello, folks. My friend has been recently diagnosed with ear drum atresia. I must admit that this sound pretty complicated for me. I really don’t know what that is. That is why I was hoping to find out that here. Can anyone help me with this? I would really appreciate all your help. Bye!
