What is so special about you, trail runners and how different are you from the rest of us?

I visited my cousins in California. They kept talking about trail running. They told me that trail running has become more and more popular. Also they said that many people enjoyed it worldwide. They claim that there are over 6.7 million regular trail runners in the United States and probably over...

Heart rate increases rapidly while running then decelerates

Answered by a doctor

I am an experienced runner, 72, ex Masters. My heart rates jumps to 170+ but after a mile or so it drops to around 120 and then accelerates to a normal 140+ - for the next 4-5 miles. Hard to continue with the high heart rate as my breathing becomes labored. Any help would be appreciated.

How intensive should my runs be?

About 80% of my running is hard or interval work. I read somewhere that 95% of your running should be easy running. Is this accurate??? I do low mileage, and I was thinking - if I did high mileage, I would just add in easy runs any way, so surely what I'm doing can't be damaging compared to...

Should I pause between marathons?

Answered by a doctor

I started to run marathons. I was scared at first and thought that I wouldn’t be able to complete such demanding race. Fortunately, I made it without a problem. That gave me confidence and I am thinking of running it on a regular basis. Should I pause between marathons?

How do i improve my endurance for marathons?

Answered by a doctor

Hey I basically have just run my first marathon, london last sunday. I ran a time of 3h50 which I was quite pleased with but I am pretty sure I can run faster. Although I am not running atm, just resting up a bit, I was wondering if I could bounce a few ideas off you guys. I was averaging just 8...
