Anyone out there with some experience using their HRM's for training and races. I've been using Galloway the past 3 years and gotten down to 3:50 in my marathons and trying a new approach this year.

I'm wanting to try something different and looking at using Benson's or John Parker's approach to Effort based training using the HRM. I'm running a half marathon this weekend keeping my pace at 75%. My goal is to run the race without going above the 75% rate and then compare my results with my normal 1/2 marathons without the HRM. I'm pretty consistent in running them at 1:44 to 1:48.

Just curious as to any other runner's experience using HRM's for training and/or races. :wavey:

10+ mile race pace for me, was about 82%, or in the low 140's

5K or less, in the low mid 150's, or 89%

Training runs were in the low 130's 70-75% range.

I used the HRM for about 2.5 years and I had a lot of success with it.
