resection for colon cancer, start of digestion

My sister had 1/3 of her colon removed on 2/6. It is now 2/16 and her digestion has not started up. She has had nothing by mouth. She is urinating normally. Is this length of time normal?

pickled smell in stool

Unable to control bowel movement

Several years ago I had sphinterectomy performed and did not receive the corrct follow up care.  Currently I have constant issues with controling my bowels.  Is ther a procedure which can help eliminate this problwm as it can be very embarrassing
