Ten days clean from opiates and surgery coming up where I will have to take narcotics?

Hi, I'm ten days clean of opiates after having them prescribed to me for over two years, due to spine issues. I'm very afraid here, because in a few days, I'm going to have surgery and there is no other way to deal with the pain of it, then using narcotics the first few days. I am terrified of this....

I've been tapering off 10mg 10x a day(100mg) for 8 days. i'm now down to 15mg a day. i'm starting to feel tired, depressed, cramps,panic and not sleeping. I'm wondering if something like Subutex (sp?) would be a better idea? My Dr. gave me clonidine, ativan and phenergan. which I've yet to use....
