what is DiGeorge syndrome?

I would like to know what DiGeorge syndrome is. Our one year old kid is having some heart issues and the cause is still not identified. Doctors mentioned that some other, additional symptoms are pointing out to that direction and I need some more info about that condition. Can it be treated?
