My First Marathon: (Mayor's Marathon, Anchorage, AK)

Answered by a doctor

My first marathon and I am not sure what to think of it. My time was 4:13:32 and is about the same as my training runs, but I was hoping for a sub-4:00. Miles 0 to 7: Pretty standard affair except that a moose tried to join the run, but luckily it was smart enough to not run with us. Ran 8:30...

Mississauga Half Marathon

Answered by a doctor

When I woke up this morning the sun was shining, the birds were singing and the cold I ve been fighting for the past couple of days felt like it was subsiding. I felt like a good day. The temperature outside was 50F degrees which for me is perfect running temp and the sky was a mixture of sun...

Run the River Half Marathon...

Answered by a doctor

My hometown race...first time they ever had a half marathon... short version. 6th overall 1:48:23 1st in division I wasn't prepared for this race at all, and it showed. I just wanted to run a half marathon this year, for some reason if I didn't run one at all made me feel like a failure....

Unity Place 5K Race Report

Long Version :: (scroll down for Cliff's Notes) So I sleep in a little this morning because this race starts just a few miles from my house and I know exactly where everything is. Got up and shaved (almost) my head, which is becoming my pre-race ritual and hit the shower. Sat down and had a few cups...

Quad Cities Marathon (the half-marathon race, anyway)

Answered by a doctor

To be honest, I was going to be happy with an average ten minute pace today (2:11:00 total), and I would have been thrilled to get a 9:45 average (2:07:43.50). Conditions at the start were ideal (for me, anyway) - partly cloudy, 47*. The half-marathon at QC is pretty flat, save for the...

Race Report: Scott County Fair 5k

I was nervous for this race. The past two weeks have been very poor training, very minimal miles. Last saturday i was out on a 6 mile run and had knee issues that made me walk most of the last 4 miles, so i was very cautious this week. Last week i don't have an excuse for. So, with minimal miles...

Okoboji 1/2 marathon

Answered by a doctor

Short Version: 1:42:30 (my watch) a PR for this course. 22nd out of 132 finishers overall. 4th in my division. Ran Great. Long Version: I was hesitant to even have a goal for this race. My training has been very inconsistent, to say the least. But, I thought maybe between 8:15 and 8:30 a mile...

Death Valley marathon

Answered by a doctor

 Didn't make my 5 hour goal. Was 2:32 at the half so I left my partner because he was having such a difficult time. Unfortunately the second half was a gentle but noticeable climb so I didn't have it in me to do a negative split time. Oh well, still my best of three. Ended up with 5:13:??.

Teh Riffraff Relay team of Rolling Rock, Roughausen, Shelee, Kimba and my self put up a fine performance in cruising to a 3:25:xx good for 34th place out of 465 teams in our division. Running Amok in New England

Answered by a doctor

Two runs in New England, the big and the small of it. The big was the Beach 2 Beacon 10K in (at?) Cape Elizabeth ME on August 2. 5000 registered, 4273 finished. Not too bad a course, but the largest field I think I ran in was 700. The size of the group didn't bother me, and neither did the...
