Itchy ear, I put cortisone cream and now water is coming out

Yesterday we were out mowing the yard when my ear started itching.  It itched so bad and I had to rub it.  There is not bump so I don't think a bug bit me but through the night the itching was so bad I put cortisone cream on my ear to see if it would stop the itching....
