Temporary setback on my marathong training

Answered by a doctor

My marathon training has taken a temporary setback. Developed an 8 mm tear in right meniscus and had surgery yesterday. Guess I'll be driving the sofa for a week or so before I can get out and start some rehab.

How to drink on the run?

To those that frequently run long races (half marathons, marathons and up), how did you manage to master the technique of drinking on the run? I can never seem to get it and end up spilling most of the water/gatorade or choking on it. Also how often do you marathoners drink from aid stations without...

Do you have a mantra that you use while running?

Answered by a doctor

Saw this over at the Runner's World site and thought I'd see what you guys had to say. Do you have any mantra that you repeat to yourself when running, especially a marathon, or long or tough run? Answered by a doctor

Whew. I thought I would have to turn in my marathon card. After my 20 miler Sunday, 4 toe nails are sprouting a nice purple color. The trail running isn't helping. I'm so proud!

Turning frustration into faster times?

Any tips on bottling up life's problems and letting them out during a hard run? I seem to have the bottling process down pat, but the letting it out during a run part gets a little confusing. Before last week's speedwork session, I took a moment to sit down and focus on letting it all out and...

Overactive intestines during speedwork

As I get faster, my repeats get longer and the rest interval gets shorter, I find myself with a rather 'nervous' stomach (if you know what I mean) when I'm doing intervals. Are there any tricks to controlling this?
