Knee issues while running on the mill

Answered by a doctor

I've been running on the mill lately, and about a mile or so into the runs, my left knee starts to hurt. It's more of a sharp pain when I land on my left foot - kinda like a needle poking in there somewhere. When I get off and walk, I don't feel anything, but walking back up the stairs, it happens...

:wavey: Hi! My name's Bill and I go to school in Boston. I run mostly down by the Charles right now. Once or twice a week I'll do a 8.8 mile path, then on the weekend I'll try to go a little further. Here's a question I have: How do people carry water in long runs? I know a lot of people have...

How to deal with achy knees while running?

Answered by a doctor

Frequently when I run my knees hurt afterwards, sometimes all day. The pain is usually a very generalized ache, not too bad and nothing so specific that I could find anything on some of the other med help sites. I should add that even before I started running my knees have never been my pals,...

Are you too hard on yourself?

It is a natural tendency of mine to compare myself with others. If a "comparison" thought pops into my head, I immediately banish it because it isn't productive. Then I go on to compare myself to what I was a year ago. I have changed. But when I have a sucky run I feel I've failed sometimes....

How long do you think it will take me to get it down to 6min mile?

I ran a mile yesterday. Time: 6:35 Not quite where I'd like it to be. I'm not in shape though (haven't run in over year and a half). How long do you think it will take me to get it down to 6? And can I be running a 5 minute mile in the near future?
